I am a self-taught professional artist, designer, working
from my studio in Cleveland, Ohio. Using found objects, recycled
elements and various stones and glass, I hand sew or weave thousands of
tiny seed beads to create my one of a kind wearable works of art. No
glues are used in the creation of my pieces.
I am inspired by the colors and textures found in nature. My work is quite organic in its look and feel. I believe in pushing the limits of what might be expected in beadwork, making the experience of wearing one of my pieces just as tactile as it is visually exciting. I've worked in many mediums over the years, my true joy lies in seed beads. What one can create using beads, the possibilities are infinite. I work mainly with size 11's & 15's glass seed beads, incorporating other sizes into my work for texture & interest. Adding found objects, natural stone & sterling sliver fascinates the eye. Many different stitches are often incorporated but the majority of my work is comprised of bead embroidery. I gather beads from many sources to include in my hand made designs. Acquiring beads is an integral aspect of my creative process. I gather vast amounts of beads, charms & findings. I am both a collector and a creator. Using various bead stitches, (Bead embroidery & Peyote stitch) the beads are hand sewn to a base fabric or woven 1 bead at a time until the desired size or shape of the piece is obtained.
